Mr. Hevia focuses his practice on trial cases. He is a partner at the law firm and the chair of the Personal Injury Division. Mr. Hevia has tried over 85 cases including more than 50 jury trials to verdict. His jury trial experience includes criminal cases, commercial litigation matters, civil fraud allegations, contract disputes, first party insurance litigation, mal-practice cases and personal injury matters. He currently holds an adjunct position in the Trial Advocacy Program at the Florida International University College of Law.

Mr. Baldwin focuses on the firm’s trial cases in both civil and criminal courts. He represents a variety of individuals and corporations in commercial, criminal, insurance, malpractice, and probate disputes in all Florida state and federal courts. He also assists the firm’s clients in personal injury, medical malpractice and wrongful death matters. Before beginning his civil practice, Matthew was a Felony Division Chief at the Miami-Dade State Attorney’s Office, where he served for six years. His experience, unflinching drive for justice, and tireless work ethic are an asset to the firm. He has tried over 40 criminal trials (including 10 homicide cases) to jury verdict and 15 civil trials to jury verdict.

Courtney Salas joins the firm as a Trial Lawyer. Courtney attended FIU College of Law where she was a member of the Trial Team and continues to be involved in the Trial Team as a Coach. As a student advocate with the Trial Team, Courtney was a member of the championship team and named Best Advocate in the final round at the Hon. E. Earle Zehmer Memorial Mock Trial Competition.

Kamila Fernandez joins the firm as a Trial Attorney. Kamila attended FIU College of Law where she was a Teaching Assistant, specializing in legal research and writing, and graduated Cum Laude. She began her legal career in defense, performing extensive legal research and analysis on premises liability matters. Kamila is fluent in Spanish and English.

Suzette Arrese is the Firm Administrator and Senior Litigation Paralegal with more than 30 years of experience in the legal field. She works alongside the attorneys from case inception through trial. She is often the first and last person clients will speak to while Hevia Law Firm fights for justice on their case. She can and does answer most frequently asked questions and her warmth and empathy are invaluable to clients as they navigate the process for the first time. Susy is fluent in Spanish and English.

Alina Hevia is the firm Case Manager. She has trained in project management with Google and written for publications and corporations for over ten years.

Alina helps the attorneys gather the relevant facts, medical records, bills, and documentation to allow for the strongest presentation of the story of the case. She is integral to crafting demand letters, telling our clients’ stories with accuracy and compassion. She will often be the point of contact on cases where she is assigned and works hard to ensure that clients can reach the firm even when the attorneys are in depositions or trials.
