Tips to Avoid Auto Accidents During the Holidays in Florida

The holiday season is here, and there is much to be thankful for. We would like to thank our clients and the community of South Florida for allowing us to help you with your personal injury matters and choosing us to be your Florida personal injury trial lawyer. We wish everyone a safe and happy holiday season in 2021.

We also want to help you stay safe. The holidays mean more people are driving on the roads, and if you are heading out of Florida, chilly weather can pose a threat to safe driving. Here are a few tips that can help you stay safer on the roads this year.

Avoid distractions. Using your phone while driving can increase accident risk by up to 23 times. Texting while driving continues to be one of the largest reasons behind auto accidents. Wherever you are, it can wait, and if it cannot, pull over to a safe location so you may respond safely as well.

Do not drive tired. It may be a busy season, but several studies show tired driving to be as dangerous as drunk driving. Missed sleep can greatly impact crash risk. If you are out on the road for long periods, make it a point to stop and take breaks and get rest. If you are driving with someone else, switching off is a great way to do that too.

Be sure to follow the cars in front of you at a safe distance. Rear-end collisions are some of the most common crashes on the roadways, so to avoid them, give yourself plenty of room. This will allow you enough time to respond appropriately if the driver in front of you abruptly stops or turns.

Enjoy the holidays, and do not forget to drive safely!
